Introduction
The Australia-Vietnam Strategic Technologies Centre, supported by the Australian Government and Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, proudly presents the 2025 Australia-Vietnam Strategic Technologies Workshop on Advancing Technologies for the Future of Connectivity. The workshop (aka Research School 2025, RS2025) is organized by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTiT), Nokia, Joint Technology and Innovation Research Centre (JTIRC), and other Australian and Vietnamese partners.
This event brings together world-leading experts, researchers, and industry pioneers to explore cutting-edge advancements in technologies, e.g., 5G, 6G, AI, cybersecurity, mobile edge, quantum, and other emerging technologies. Through insightful discussions and interactive sessions, participants will gain valuable hands-on experience and perspectives on how these transformative technologies can enhance global connectivity, foster cross-border innovation, and drive sustainable and secure digital transformation for Australia, Vietnam, and the world.
- Taking place in Hanoi on 11-12 June 2025, the workshop is also designed to provide a unique platform for participants to foster collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and innovation via social networking events. Participants will have opportunities to engage with peers and distinguished professors from top universities in Australia, Vietnam, and the world.Hands-On Industry Training: Gain practical experience with cutting-edge 5G equipment provided by Nokia, our key industry partner.

Who should attend?
The target audience includes instructors, researchers, engineers, industry, government officers, business partners, undergraduate students, and graduate students (MSc and PhD students).
Upon successful completion of the workshop, the most outstanding students will be recommended for PhD research scholarships (up to an annual $42,000 tuition/fee waiver, ~$38,500 living stipend plus project-based top-up funding) at UTS and Research Centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Prize of AUD $500 to support academic pursuits
Travel allowance of up to AUD $250 (only for candidates residing outside of Hanoi)
Eligibility Criteria
Must be Vietnamese, at least 18 years old
Potential or demonstrated contributions to the development and applications of emerging technologies
Relevant emerging technologies, including but not limited to: 5G/6G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Cybersecurity, Quantum Technologies, and Semiconductors
Must attend in-person
The application package include:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) highlighting academic and professional experience/achievements
- Academic transcripts and evidence of English proficiency
- One-page motivation letter detailing your plan and vision referring to the above criteria and others that may not be covered elsewhere (strongly encouraged for scholarship applications)
- Title and abstract of the poster for the Poster Competition (strongly encouraged for scholarship application)
We encourage additional supporting materials such as reference letters, certificates, awards, etc.,, to strengthen your application. All documents are in PDF format, and incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
Women in Technology & Innovation Awards
20 scholarships will be awarded to recognize and empower exceptional female students and scientists who have potential to make excellent contributions to strategic technologies, and STEM.
