On the afternoon of March 19, 2026, a working session took place at Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) between the Institute and the World WLAN Application Alliance (WAA) to discuss and orient cooperation in the field of wireless local area network (WLAN) technology.
The World WLAN Application Alliance (WAA) is an international organization operating in the wireless LAN (WLAN) sector, focusing on promoting the development, standardization, and application of wireless connectivity solutions globally. With a network of over 90 members from more than 11 countries, WAA serves as a connecting platform among enterprises, research institutes, and universities, aiming to build a modern WLAN ecosystem and a highly reputable certification system within the industry.
Attending the working session on behalf of the Institute were representatives from the Institute’s leadership and functional departments. On behalf of WAA, leadership representatives and experts from the Alliance were present.
Speaking at the welcoming program, Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien – Vice President of the Institute emphasized WAA’s role in connecting the global ecosystem between enterprises, research institutes, and universities. The Institute highly appreciates WAA’s contributions to promoting the development and standardization of WLAN technology and expresses the expectation that both sides will soon identify concrete and practical cooperation opportunities.
Representing the Institute, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung – Department of Science, Technology Management and International Cooperation proposed several cooperative directions, including: deploying WLAN-related training programs; receiving support in materials and experience from WAA; and standing ready to provide the Institute’s facilities and laboratories for testing activities. In addition, the Institute desires to leverage WAA’s partner network to expand connections with universities, educational institutions, and businesses, aiming to participate in joint cooperative projects.
Responding from WAA, the Alliance’s representative highly appreciated the cooperation potential with PTIT and proposed many specific contents, such as: inviting the Institute to join the network of research centers for academic exchange; proposing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the participation of relevant partners; inviting PTIT to participate in the academic expert council; and providing short-term scholarships, internships, and student exchange programs at WAA’s laboratories. Furthermore, WAA expressed its desire to join hands with PTIT to leverage both sides’ networks, foster cooperation with universities and enterprises, and deploy future research projects and technology applications.
In addition to the main working session, the WAA delegation toured the facilities and some of the Institute’s exemplary laboratories, including the Innovation Center jointly established with Huawei and the Australia–Vietnam Strategic Technology Center. The tour provided WAA with a more visual perspective on the Institute’s research and training capabilities, while enhancing mutual understanding and identifying future cooperation opportunities. The working session took place in an open, cooperative, and effective atmosphere, creating many opportunities to promote international cooperation, research, and training in wireless network technology between PTIT and WAA in the coming time.
